By On May 31, 2009 No Comments

So it is 2AM and you are searching for a way to stop toothache pain. I have been there, done that. Why do toothaches hurt the most in the middle of the night?

Chances are that you have something in the pantry right now that will stop toothache pain and return your sanity. These items are natural and have been used for hundreds of years, even thousands of years dating back to indigenous tribes.

Salt:

Stock standard table salt. Mix 1 teaspoon of salt into a glass of lukewarm water. Make sure the water is luke warm. Swish this around the mouth gently. Swishing it hard could actually make the pain worse so be gentle. This method has been used for generations for how to fix a toothache.

Cucumber:

Because of its Vitamin C content in the form of ascorbic acid, Cucumber makes an effective anti-inflammatory and aides the reduction of swelling while drawing out bacterial infection. You can get cucumber from just about anywhere these days.

Take one cucumber and slice off a half inch think piece. Bit down gently on the painful tooth and hold in place for 10 minutes. Stopping the pain of toothache should be experienced within that time period. Refrigerating the cucumber helps to further reduce swelling and pain. Afterwards, when all has settled down you will wonder why so much pain in a toothache

Powdered Ginger:

Place a teaspoon of powdered Ginger and Cayenne pepper into a cup and add a few drops of water, mix until it becomes a watery paste. Place a cotton ball into the mixture until it’s saturated and place on the painful tooth. Try to keep the cotton ball on the tooth as the Cayenne pepper can irritate the surrounding gums.

Bearings

By On May 31, 2009 No Comments

Friction is a kind of force which opposes the movement of a surface in sliding or rolling motion over another surface with which it is in contact.

Flexure bearings
Bearings are categorized according to how they operate and the motions that they allow. The two common motions are linear and rotary. Bearings which allow linear motions are called linear bearings. These bearings allow motion in a straight line. An example of linear motion is the pulling and pushing of a drawer. Rotary motions, on the other hand, involve one direction rotation and oscillation, wherein the motion goes only through a part of a cycle, such as in the case of a wheel. Rotary bearings, therefore, allow motions which are concentrated on a center, like a wheel on a shaft.

Thrust bearings
There are several types of thrust bearings which we can look at but before we go further let us look at what a thrust bearing actually is. A thrust bearing by definition is a type of rotary bearing where they allow the rotation of two parts, but the slight difference with a thrust bearing is that they are designed to do this while supporting a very high axial load. These types of bearings are manufactured for many items from small household appliances where they are the size of a coin to massive industrial generators where they are several feet in diameter.

Linear bearings
Bearings are extremely important applications in so many appliances and machinery we use today on a daily basis for example every time you use your car, or a kitchen appliance, or take a trip on a boat think about the bearings and how important they are to the speed and movement.

It is a word also used when navigating. The meaning of the word changes slightly depending on which area of navigation you are talking about. For example in marine navigation a bearing is to describe the direction from one object in correlation to another object, and in land navigation a bearing is the angle between two connecting points and a north-south line. For example the house can be at a bearing of 38 degrees from the car park.

Website creation basics

By On May 30, 2009 No Comments

Tim Berners-Lee published what is considered to be the first website in August 1991. Berners-Lee was the first to combine Internet communication (which had been carrying email and the Usenet for decades) with hypertext (which had also been around for decades, but limited to browsing information stored on a single computer, such as interactive CD-ROM design). Websites are written in a markup language called HTML, and early versions of HTML were very basic, only giving a website’s basic structure (headings and paragraphs), and the ability to link using hypertext. This was new and different from existing forms of communication – users could easily navigate to other pages by following hyperlinks from page to page.

As the Web and web design progressed, the markup language changed to become more complex and flexible, giving the ability to add objects like images and tables to a page. Features like tables, which were originally intended to be used to display tabular information, were soon subverted for use as invisible layout devices. With the advent of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), table-based layout is commonly regarded as outdated. Database integration technologies such as server-side scripting and design standards like W3C further changed and enhanced the way the Web is made. As times change, websites are changing the code on the inside and visual design on the outside with ever-evolving programs and utilities.

A web site is a marketing tool but in basis is a collection of information about a particular topic or subject. A web site might be compared to a book, where each page of the book is a web page. Multimedia and diseño web is the key for a success website.

There are many aspects (design concerns) in this process, and due to the rapid development of the Internet, new aspects may emerge. For non-commercial web sites, the goals may vary depending on the desired exposure and response. For typical commercial web sites, the basic aspects of design are:

The content: the substance, and information on the site should be relevant to the site and should target the area of the public that the website is concerned with.

The usability: the site should be user-friendly, with the interface and navigation simple and reliable.

The appearance: the graphics and text should include a single style that flows throughout, to show consistency. The style should be professional, appealing and relevant.

The visibility: the site must also be easy to find via most, if not all, major search engines and advertisement media.

A web site typically consists of text and images. Since a website can be a business, selling and trading on internet is comercio electronico.

Once a web site is completed, it must be published or uploaded in order to be viewable to the public over the internet.

Once published, the web master may use a variety of techniques to increase the traffic that the web site receives. This may include submitting the web site to a search engine posicionamiento google, exchanging links with other web sites, creating affiliations with similar web sites, etc.

Multidisciplinary requirements

Web site design crosses multiple disciplines of information systems, information technology and communication design. The web site is an information system whose components are sometimes classified as front-end and back-end. The observable content (e.g. page layout, user interface, graphics, text, audio) is known as the front-end. The back-end comprises the organization and efficiency of the source code, invisible scripted functions, and the server-side components that process the output from the front-end. Depending on the size of a Web development project, it may be carried out by a multi-skilled individual (sometimes called a web master), or a project manager may oversee collaborative design between group members with specialized skills .

Whew, my great new dental insurance has just turned on!

By On May 30, 2009 No Comments

Whew! my outstanding dental insurance finally kicked in!

It has been such a long time since I’ve been insured that I’ve unfortunately found myself suffering from quite a lot of dental pain. That’s all about to change, since my new job provides an insurance package that is better than any that I’ve ever seen before. So, I’ll be getting my mouth done up in style. My coverage is so good, as a matter of fact, that I am actually pondering going above and beyond just the realm of family dental measures and maybe getting some cosmetic dentistry work too. My family has been pestering me about doing some of those fancy new clear braces or some laser teeth whitening, so I’ll see what sort of deals we can find on dentists who do that sort of thing.

The major difficulty, for us, is figuring out how to find a good dentist in the Tampa Bay area. I honestly feel terrible saying it, but our family doesn’t even have a regular family dentist that we have a relationship with.We live in Tampa, Florida, so I’ve been on the lookout for a Tampa FL dentist that is reputable and has a wide range of experience with the new types of equipment and procedures. It’s virtually impossible to find! There are a lot of things you want to consider when you’re looking for a dentist. For example, I don’t know if I would want to visit a dentist who didn’t get most of his experience in the military.

As far as the new types dental practices go, I’ve genuinely been considering the idea. The new more advanced techniques have really been gaining ground over the last decade. I’ve been hearing about them on television, how much better they are than the usual dentistry approaches. I’ve been searching the internet for “sedation dentist Tampa” and I’m pretty sure the techniques and equipment they use is just way past what you would have gotten 20 years ago, so I’m hoping that my family will be able to take advantage of such advanced dentistry now that I have a better job. No more emergency dentistry for us!

ECUADOR – one country with four absolute different geographic regions

By On May 30, 2009 No Comments

The three main geographic regions on the mainland are:

  • The coast also designated “La Costa” on the Pacific Ocean
  • The highlands also designated “La Sierra” which means the mountain range of the Andes running from North to South through the whole country
  • and the Amazon rainforest also named “El Oriente”.

The Galapagos Islands (in german: Ecuador Galapagos Inseln) – the fourth region – is an insular region in the Pacific Ocean.

It is a breath taking moment, standing there on an island where nobody lives – only some endemic species you cannot find anywhere else in the world. Swimming with sea lions, sea turtles and sharks is nearly as overwhelming as walking over one of the islands, watching fascinating species like the blue-footed boobies, lava lizards, albatrosses, marine and land iguanas, mockingbirds and innumerable different kinds of finches. This is what this province of Ecuador is known for: the vast number of endemic species.

So if you are interested in fascinating animals and plants this is the place for you! Even if you have not been interested in plants and animals before, there is a great chance you will be after visiting this archipelago of volcanic islands that is also located around the equator.

Usually you land at “Baltra” where you find the airfield. From there you can go to one of the bigger islands called Galapagos “Santa Cruz” with the biggest city on the islands – “Puerto Ayora”.

At Santa Cruz you can visit the Charles Darwin Research Station with a tortoise breeding center as well as the highlands where you find a beautiful mangrove forest and interesting volcanic formations like the two big holes “Los Gemélos”.

Another interesting but very small island is “Santa Fe”. On Santa Fe you find a lot of land iguanas and sea lions as well as a forest of Opuntia cactus.

“Española”, the oldest island of the archipelago, hosts a large number of endemic fauna furthermore albatrosses and marine iguanas that change their colour during the breading season. This island offers the most beautiful beach for swimming and snorkelling: Gardner Bay.

The island “Floreana” – named after the first president of Ecuador (Juan José Flores) – houses species like pink flamingos and green sea turtles that nest on the island between December and May.

A wooden barrel is kept at Post Office Bay where post could be picked up by ships passing by and was delivered to its destination.

Formidable underwater volcanic coral formations can be found snorkelling or diving in Galapagos at the “Devil’s Crown”.

Ecuador is a country like a dream – only by going there you can find out yourself!

How to find the Right Size Bra

By On May 30, 2009 No Comments

Introduction

Over the years as I matured my bra size increased, particularly after having babies. Before that I was a size 34 bust, but after giving birth I went up in size. After menopause my bust size increased again and I found my normal bra did not fit me anymore. One day I took the plunge and went into my local underwear store and had myself properly fitted and measured. To my amazement I discovered I was no where near the size I thought I was. The statistics from research carried out suggests that 70% of women are wearing the wrong bra size and many of these women have never actually been measured at all and so simply buy what they assume to be their size.

What most women do not realise is that a ill fitting bra can affect their health and well being. If for instance the bra is the wrong size it might cause severe back and shoulder pain with the constant resistance to the pressure on those areas of the body. As in the example above, bust size and shape will alter with variations of weight and hormonal change. This in turn will require a change in bra size. Because a woman’s shape may be in a constant state of flux, regular fittings about every 6 months are highly recommended.

To Find the Correct Bra Size

The best way to check that you are wearing the correct size bra is to go to a shop or store that offers a professional bra fitting service. A specially trained fitter will measure you to work out your correct size. The system used is to take a tape measure and place it underneath the bust and around the rib cage so that it feels secure but not uncomfortable. If the number measured in inches is an even number you add four, if it is an odd number you add five to give you your bra band size.

Once the band size is established the next measurement to find is the cup size. This is done by placing the tape measure over the fullest part of the bust and around the back all at the same level. Again this should be firm but not too tight. Your cup size is the difference between the two measurements. For example if your bust size is the same as your bra band size you are an A cup, a 1 inch difference = B cup, 2 inches = C cup, 3 inches = D cup and so on. All measurements taken are really only used as a guide to bra size because bras size can vary greatly from manufacturers to manufacturers. Sometimes a very experienced trained professional can judge your bra size by eye and will not need to use a tape measure. Because women vary so greatly in shape and size it is not only the size of bra that is important, but also the type of support required and distribution of weight. A trained fitter will be able to offer you advice on the correct type of bra to suit your needs.

Even if you are not buying new clothes at the moment, it is still a good idea to make sure you are wearing the correct big bra size.

Tips for ensuring correct bra fit:-

  • If you find that your bra rides up your back it may be because it is too loose. Try tightening the bra with the hook and eye clasp or buying a smaller band size (32 instead of 34).
  • If the opposite is the case and your bra is too tight try another band size up or even a bra that has a wider band fitting. You can also get extra hooks to fit on the end of your current bra that will ease the tightness under the bust.
  • Bulging sides can be remedied by wearing a bra that offers more cup coverage or is one band size bigger.
  • If you find that your bust is bulging out of the cups then you will probably need a larger cup or band size. (Unless of course that is the fashion statement you are aiming for!)
  • For ladies who have larger busts, a bra with wider shoulder straps or even padded ones will give relief from sore shoulders.
  • A sagging bust line can be overcome by choosing a bra that offers firmer support and avoiding stretchy fabrics.
  • An under-wired bra may give problems with soreness under the bust if not correctly fitted. In which some womes prefer to wear a non-wired soft cup bra.
  • Straps that slip usually mean they are too long so they can be adjusted to correct the problem. Otherwise choose a bra style with wider straps that will not slip down or buy a bra clasp to hold the straps together at the back

The Prevalence of Cancer

According to Cancer Research UK, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK and around 125 women a day are diagnosed with this particular form of cancer. Breast cancer rates have increased by 13% over the last ten years and one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. This may be due to the national screening programme, but early detection is vital for a good prognosis. Survival rates of 5 years or more after treatment is 80% and that means that there are a large number of women who require specialist bras especially after surgery.

As a result of the increased rates of breast cancer and manufacturers looking to specialise in new markets, the range of stylish Mastectomy bras and lingerie has grown considerably, so having had breast surgery does not mean that you can’t have stylish designer lingerie any longer.

Mastectomy Bra

Choosing lingerie after surgery where the breast or part of a breast has been removed can sometimes be quite a challenge and there will naturally be a period of adjustment. Part of the rehabilitation will be to acquire a prosthesis to use in conjunction with a mastectomy Bra towards recovering the regular silhouette.

The amount of surgery you have had will decide the type of product you require. The prosthesis should match the natural remaining breast or if two are required they need to restore the natural outline. When going for a fitting for a mastectomy bra it is important to have the right prosthesis with you.

Full ranges of beautiful full figure bra styles are rarely available on the high street and you may need to locate specialist post operative bra suppliers online to get the best selection.

A Mastectomy bra is generally made from fabric that is designed to be more comfortable on sensitive and post-operative areas of skin, but this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or elegance, and a wide range of beautiful post-surgery lingerie is available. These can be purchased as complete sets with matching bottoms. Apart from the different fabrics used, the main difference of a Mastectomy bra is that is has pockets to accommodate the prostheses and generally there will be a choice of a higher neckline and higher panels between cups. A Mastectomy bra will usually have adjustable straps for effective support. There is no need not to be stylish and feminine; bras with satin and lace trim also feature.

Where there is a bilateral mastectomy the bra will need to accommodate the natural breast in one cup and the prosthesis in the other. Ensure that you find a boutique with a qualified fitter to help you find exactly the correct size and fit to suit your shape. No prosthesis will look right if your bra does not fit properly and ideally the two should be fitted together, if that is not possible then choose the bra first.

Points to be aware of when choosing the correct mastectomy bra for you are:-

  • The prosthesis must fill the bra cup properly so that it doesn’t pucker or be over stretched
  • The underarm section is the same on both sides
  • The breasts are evenly aligned.

Where only part of the breast tissue has been removed (lumpectomy) then there is only a need for a breast enhancer. There are a range of styles and shapes for partial reconstruction usually made from silicone.

Polypropylene beans mould into the shape of the bra to give a really natural look and the beans allow air to circulate making it cool and comfortable.

There is also a range of swimsuits and bikinis designed with subtle modifications for the beach such as pockets for the prostheses, slightly higher necklines and closer underarm fitting with pre-formed cups to give natural contour to the figure. Again these come in every shape and size and don’t mean that you have to sacrifice new fashions.

Maternity Bras

When women become pregnant they outgrow their ordinary everyday bras very early on in pregnancy. The breasts become bigger and heavier in the first few weeks so a good support bra of the correct size is vital. As the pregnancy develops the breast size continues to change and fluctuate so regular measuring and fittings will help with comfort and health. Many midwives and retail outlets advise against purchasing an underwired bra during pregnancy and although there is no concrete evidence to show that underwires are harmful during this time, there does appear to be some potential risk. The reason for this advice is that the rigid wires found in underwired bras may interfere with the natural changes in the size and shape of the breast and restrict the increased blood flow to, and possibly hinder, the developing milk duct system.

Specialist lingerie retailers tend to stock all specialised bras such as post operative bra, nursing bra and maternity bra ranges. These boutiques will nearly always have professional measuring staff, which is an important part of the process of getting exactly the right fit.

To make sure you are wearing the best supporting bra a professional measuring and fitting service is a must during pregnancy. It is important that you are measured every 6 to 8 weeks so that your specially trained fitter can assess your changing shape and fit you accordingly. When you are purchasing a maternity bra it is important that it offers you great support with wide straps and side panels. A wide under bust band and a deep centre at the front will also enhance this support.

A lot of pregnant women find that they feel very hot during pregnancy and a bra that is mainly cotton will help let the skin breathe. Look for a bra that has at least 4 rows of hooks and eyes so that your bra can grow through your pregnancy with you. Make sure that the bra fits without the breast spilling over the top and that the cups fit comfortably. As with your everyday bra make sure that the centre front is lying snugly on your breastbone, and if it’s within the first few weeks of pregnancy remember that your rib cage will expand so fit your bra on the smallest fastenings so that you have plenty of room for expansion later in your pregnancy. The opposite will apply for maternity bras purchased later in pregnancy of course, fit on the loosest hook and eye so that when your rib cage shrinks after birth, you can tighten your bra accordingly.

Conclusion

During the early stages of a woman’s life she will need appropriate bras to suit each stage. During the early teenage years a more modest non wired bra is the most appropriate.

Later in adolescence where appearance is a serious business, a more fashionable good fitting bra to create a feminine silhouette is required.

In pregnancy a comfortable good supportive bra which has expanding fastenings allows for changes throughout the pregnancy without restriction and damage. Following the birth, a good nursing bra to allow for easy access needs to still support the breast as it fluctuates hourly during the day.

If women undertake vigorous exercise then it is doubly important she wears a good sports bra to reduce bounce as that stretches the pectoral muscles.

As a woman ages the breasts mature and so will need a good supportive structure that helps prevent sagging and yet retains a good outline. After menopause many women loose the full breast shape and at that point it is more important to find an appropriate type of bra that will help them feel good about themselves.

Many women have been unfortunate enough to have had a full or partial mastectomy in which case correct prosthesis and mastectomy bras are an essential part of the recovery programme.

Many women spend a great deal of time and money on hairdo’s, makeup and face pampering, yet often they neglect their greatest assets. Maybe it’s time we women start to think differently about the way we look after our bosoms’ and make sure they are clothed in comfortable, supportive and good looking items.

Review of 46 inch HDTVs From Panasonic

By On May 29, 2009 No Comments

The Panasonic TH46PZ80U is a 1080P 16:9 format TV and has a native resolution of 20,000 to 1. This HDTV creates deep, robust blacks and copies scenes with a fine balance of shadow and light. The extra-wide viewing range is extremely remarkable. Image colors appear rich from almost any angle. The built-in speakers give a realistic audio class. You can combine it with a home theatre system for a more stimulating movie experience. The menu system is simple to navigate, with a nice remote and thumb-friendly button layout. The HDTV comes with 3 HDMI inputs and 2 additional Component Video inputs.

The picture quality of the Panasonic TH46PZ85U does not handle noise reduction and color accuracy well as compared to other HDTVs. However, the outstanding feature is that it has an amazing black-level performance which produces really deep shades of blacks. The deep blacks adds detail to the lighter shades. The anti-reflective screen makes it even more consistent for watching scenes with dark elements. One of the features of the Panasonic TH46PZ85U is the alternative of setting up to five aspect ratio controls for HD sources. The “Surf Mode” feature adds some soul by allowing users to limit some of the TV tuning options.

The Panasonic TH46PZ800U has a set of pleasantly systematized controls and inputs including an HDMI input, SD card slot, S-video port, and some other common inputs. It also shows accurate colors and vivid visuals. One of the many features that is very outstanding in terms of color performance is the full THX certification in the TH46PZ800U. THX enables home entertainment products to deliver stunning sound and visual performances. The black levels are controlled well and users can take pleasure in dark themed scenes on the Panasonic TH46PZ800U. The TH46PZ800U is clearly one of the best performing HDTVs available and should be worth the investment.

spent an evening reading

By On May 29, 2009 No Comments

Now that winter has come – in many areas there is already enough snow to make the landscape look like in a fairy tale. And that brings us directly to the topic: Why not read some tales again? There is a wonderful new book with tales: The Tales of Beedle the Bard (german title: Die Märchen von Beedle dem Barden by Joanne K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame. It contains five wonderfully illustrated tales (the illustrations were done by J.K. Rowling herself) and is surely going to be a bestseller soon.

My next suggestion is a real classic: “The Pillars of the World” by Ken Follet (again, as I am german, the german title: Die Säulen der Erde), a novel with colorful insight to life in the medieval ages in England. A very complex story about quite a lot of people involved in building a cathedral or some in trying to prevent it…

And if you like the writing style of Ken Follet and if you like the middle ages – why not stick with him and read “World without End” (german title: Die Tore der Welt) It is somehow a sequel to “The Pillars of the World”, as it plays in the same city only 200 years later and some of the protagonists are descendants of the first book’s heroes. At a closer look it a self-contained independent story, but as captivating as its predecessor!
