Is Wet Shaving Dead?
Scraping a metal blade is one of those activities that men endure, rather than enjoy. For at least hundreds of years a metal blade of varying sharpness scraped across the face has been the way it was done.
Times have changed since then, of course, and these days you can find new types of electric shavers that are very smooth. When you have less irritation on your skin, you actually help your skin maintain its youth. You look better too.
And for most of us, there’s something pleasant about the feeling of a really close shave, after you’ve shaved. While shaving itself may not be fun, the post-shave feeling is generally a pleasant thing. Unfortunately, traditionally electric shavers have not given as good a shave as the old-fashioned ‘wet shave’.
There are various ranges of electric shavers now, like the Philips RQ1051 Arcitec Rotary Shaver, which has an ultra slim, ergonomic, body. Using Flex and Pivot it can provide a perfectly close shave, even on the neck area. Traditionally, as most men will know, that’s one of the harder areas to shave properly.
It also has stainless steel blades to lift the hair to shave. The benefit of a system like that is that you end up shaving below skin level – talk about a close shave!
Of course the RQ1051 isn’t the only electric shaver that offers a close shave. For example the HS8060 offers shaving with a built-in moisturising system. There is an almost bewildering array on offer in every department store.
In most cases it pays to research as much as you can online before making a decision, because you’re not usually allowed to try them out and return them. For hygiene reasons that’s a very good thing. After all, would you want the one that somebody else had returned the day before?
Buying books for our kindergartener at the book fair
Last night we had parent teacher conferences for our Kindergarten student. They went ok, but the most fun part was going to the book fair and seeing all the neat books available to kids at a reduced cost. They ranged from early readers to advanced students. They had a few priced at $2.50, most were $5-$7. Since we were there on the last day I think we missed out on some good selections, but still managed to find quite a few that our young reader would enjoy.
I’m excited to go to this again next year, or even find one at a different school and go to theirs. The proceeds from all sales go back into the school which is very helpful.
Our son is doing well in school. His teachers consider him to be bright, a fast learner, and very good at math and reading. Most of all I want him to be recognized for his talents and be given every opportunity available. I was an A student in school and was able to be in any group I wanted. All the advanced activities were made available and helped shape who I am today. I want my son to have those same opportunities.

The Different Types of Electric Heaters
Garage Heaters
For those tough days of working out in the shop or garage, electric garage heaters are the perfect heaters. They provide more than sufficient heat for small areas such as residential garages and outbuildings, and their size and portability make them ideally suited for weekend handyman uses.
Most electric garage heater models include safety features that will automatically shut themselves down if you knock them over or accidentally throw a blanket over them. They also have thermostat controls so you can set the temperature to your liking. During the hot seasons, these heaters can be used to provide a cool breeze to increase ventilation in your garage.
Portable Electric Heater
Portable electric heaters are the easiest to use and don’t require any special installation techniques. They can be used as soon as they are purchased. Before you purchase any heater for your garage, you must know the wiring specifications. It can create a safety hazard if you buy a heater not designed for your wiring system.
While a smaller unit is probably the most popular electric garage heater, larger wall and electric baseboard heaters are also possible options. If you feel you need the extra heating capacity of one of these larger heaters, you might also think about extending your ductwork and connecting your garage to your central heating. Both gas and oil heaters are suitable for garage heating. But more sure you have adequate ventilation if you intend to use these efficient heaters for larger spaces.
Electric Space Heater
For home use, electric space heaters are more suitable. Most electric space heaters use convection to heat a room. And since every place has the infrastructure to deliver electricity, heat can be provided at no additional cost or investment in infrastructure. As these heaters do not burn any fuel, no harmful gas like carbon monoxide are produced.
No More Goebel Figurines
After selling the M.I. Hummel line of Goebel figurines since 1935, Goebel shut its doors in October 2008. Problems began years before with the owner filing bankruptcy in 2006. The economic downturn had an effect on a company that had been in business since 1871. Although best known for their Hummel line of Goebel figurines many different artists produced drawings that Goebel figurines where fashioned after. Several types of porcelain figurines by artists like Charlot BYJ have had success and have value in today’s market, but their Hummel line of Goebel figurines were always their best selling and most loved figurines.
When Goebel shut down, 230 employees who worked in the Hummel factory lost their jobs. Not only the employees but collectors of the Hummel line of Goebel figurines were astonished and saddened. Collectors were emotional and believed there was no way that Goebel could stop producing the Hummel line. Goebel had tried everything they could think of to keep producing the line, even increasing production of the Hummels to make more revenue. However, this didn’t work and supply quickly outweighed demand.
In 2009 Hoechst Porcelain located near Frankfurt, Germany founded the firm Manufaktur Roedental and they acquired not only the copyrights to the Hummel line of Goebel figurines but also the production facilities. They have hired back many of the former craftsmen and production of these beautiful figurines is again underway. Since everything is still made by hand, one figurine can take up to twelve weeks to produce.
This year is the 100th anniversary of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel’s birth (she is the artist whose drawings the figurines are modeled after) and the new company is hoping this will respark an interest in the pieces. Many new porcelain figurines are being produced for the occasion and hopefully the tradition of the Goebel figurines will be carried on.

Social networks & job seekers
Is it absolutely crucial that a job hunter make use of social networks in their job hunt in this technologically advance times? No. However, given the economic climate of the world, particularly the USA, one might say that you should try everything conceivable to get your application abroad and expand your network in order to get to all prospective employers. It is not at all mandatory though that one use a social network to find a job, as though it be the answer to all their employment mistakes. It is as worthwhile and unproductive as a job fair or addressing your resume to everyone you know. The only need? to enroll in social networking sites like LinkedIn, which position themselves as the “hip” social networks for their individual niche market in social networking, may be to you dodge being ostracized by your friends for not being a member of it. But then you’re only folding to peer-pressure and not really answering the requirements of economic or job-market constraints.
Having said that, there are several advantages to employing social networking sites in your employment search. To begin with, why wouldn’t you try to call attention to your resume everywhere imaginable? Why wouldn’t you attend a job-fair if it meant raising your chances for a job even in the least? And why wouldn’t you circulate your resume to everyone you knew, in order to see who might be hiring? In the same way, why wouldn’t you join a social network and use it to publicize your resume and advertise the fact that you are on the lookout for a job? There isn’t really any downside, as long as you are able to assertively brand yourself on that network. In the business world it’s all about “who you know”, and thanks to social networking sites, you can be connected to to everyone imaginable in the business world. The list of people in your (network expands greatly by joining such networks, and the successes speak for themselves as job hopefuls continue to credit their employment to domains concentrating in business and job finding such as LinkedIn, Facebook and other Facebook clones. And besides, even the recruiters who still run conventional websites that promote your resume are now using social network sites to couple employers to future job seekers who match their needs. If the professionals can see some use in it, then you probably should be able to as well.

Veggies Given Life Insurance Leg Up
Summary
An interesting new insurance plan has been marketed by Animal Friends Insurance. The new policy offers discounted premiums to vegetarians, based on evidence that they are at a reduced risk than their carnivore counterparts of developing certain diseases. It remains to be seen whether other insurance firms will follow the policy introduced by AFI .
A none profit insurance firm has introducd a scheme which offers egg eaters and vegetarians a reduced cost life cover .
The deal, believed to be the 1st of its kind, is being introduced by Animal Friends Insurance (AFI). The company is offering vegetarians a 6% cheaper premiumon life assurance premiums
The firm claimed that veggies ought to pay a lesser sum for the product, which pays out if the plan holder dies, because they were less likely to suffer from a range of chronic diseases, including cancers.
Amanda Jude, a director at AFI, claims that the risk of vegetarians being diagnosed with certain cancers is reduced by up to 40 per cent and the risk of them suffering from heart disease is cut by up to thirty two per cent, but despite this they have, until now, had to pay the same life insurance premiums as customers who eat meat.
She says that AFI believe that this is patently unfair and says the life organisations should recognise the concept that being a veggie can create have a significant effect on life expectancy and lower its monthly charges accordingly.
A standard policy is also on the market for non-vegetarians. Both plans are marketed by LV=, which was known as Liverpool Victoria.
In common with standard life policies, a range of factors contribute to the cost of the monthly premium including whether the applicant smokes, their age, weight and sex.
Currently, Animal Friends Insurance is funding the seven per cent discount itself from the payment it gets from LV=. In the future, however, the business’s objective was to offer lower premiums on specialist insurance cover. In making the discount the company is hoping to sign up enough vegetarians to make it cost effective for LV= to underwrite yet another plan that takes the veggie diet into account.
Indeed there are huge savings to be made, a thirty eight year oldnon-smoker wanting £300,000 worth of insurance cover might potentially save £393.60 over a twenty five year term.
Where life insurance is concerned, AFI believes that insurers should start to treat those that eat meat and people that don’t eat meat in approaches matching the way they view non-smokers and smokers. Perhaps other companies in the insurance industry will follow the initiative.
Some peoplein the insurance industry are doubtful whether there is verifyable proof that veggies live longer, and how any insurance company could prove that those who had applied stating that they are vegetarian did not eat the odd spare rib.
When it comes to smoking, the insurance company can refer to your Doctor’s records – if you now don’t smoke it’s likely that your Doctor would be aware. However, this is unlikely to apply when it comes to eating meat, an executive from the insurance industry commented.
But many veggies argue that they are not worried about people falling off the veggie way of eating and suggested that once a vegetarian has become a veggie, they do not regress to meat-eating, that’s unlike people who smoke who tend to drift in and out of their habit.
Hawaii Vacations – What you Should Pack
If you are taking a vacation and going somewhere relaxing and tropical, then Hawaii might be your choice of destination. Hawaii vacations are great fun and you and your entire family will have a great time there. You could be going to Hawaii for a spring break vacation, for a wedding, for a business function, or just to relax with your loved one. Here are some ideas of what you can pack for your trip.
Clothes: When you are packing clothes, it can be easy to go overboard with the shorts and strappy tops. Instead you should also be practical and think about the possibility of cool weather and rain. Don’t forget to include a warm jacket and pants, as well as extra socks. For the beach remember to pack a swimming suit and beach towel – and don’t forget to include some sun screen.
Activities: Even though you will be busy seeing the sights and attractions in Hawaii, you should also pack some activities that you can do in case you have to stay inside. If you should have a rainy day, you might decide to stay in bed and just read a book. For the kids taking games and books along is important in case you take a long drive somewhere or you want to just relax.
Camera: this is a must! You don’t go all the way to Hawaii without a camera. The islands have a lot of natural beauty to offer, and a video camera will also be useful to record all these volcanoes, fabulous waterfalls and of course the family. You can’t forget them! Make sure to have some extra batteries or a charger, and an empty memory card for your camera. Unless yours needs a film spool or video cassette!
Travelers Checks: These are useful for any incidental items you want to purchase, and are much safer than cash. If you take only what you want to spend, then you won’t go over your budget. Make sure you allow plenty of time before you leave to order and receive them.
Fishing Equipment: Hawaii offers lots of fabulous fishing and diving around the coast, including sports fishing and reef diving on the coral reefs surrounding the atoll. If you want to take advantage of that, make sure you take your wet suit and scuba equipment and also your fishing gear. There is a wide variety of fish to be caught round the shores and in the lakes and rivers, so make sure you know what is legal. You can hire equipment there if you don’t want to travel with it but most prefer to take their own.
These are just a few of the important items that you should remember to pack for your Hawaii vacation. The best way to pack is to have a list made, so do this to make sure you don’t forget anything.

Life and Warmth with Space Heaters
My favorite friend David Lewis, was twenty one when his father went on and left him over 2.5 million in his estate. Now Dave had always been different from all of us. We would get twenty dollars and get together and find the fastest way to use it. Not Dave, he would get his pay check, how much ever it was, and half would go in his savings, and the other half he would throw in towards what ever we were headed to do. His Father was that way, and his folks were the most prosperous family I knew personally.
So Dave took his pay check and procured the electric space heater corporation. Now that was 1980. By about 1992 or so, that same company was worth about twenty times what he spent for it. His electric space heater investment had payed off, and payed off large. We remained in touch over the decades and he got married to Wendy, had six kids, including John, who was a real smart son.
By now, 2016, Nathan was pretty much working things at the Burnsright electric space heater corporation, and they were doing very well. The country had just barely started to recover from the second great depression of 2010. Dave and I were spending a lot of time together currently, and since George had been killed, George was another one of our good lifetime friends, our families had been seeing a lot of each other.
George and his spouse had lost there lives in a vehicle collision just a few months ago, and it had done wonders to gather the old friends back together. We would sit around the portable space heater and talk about the old times and catch up on the years past, and as I saw it this was what life was about.
