Utilizing PEX Fittings To Establish A Better Plumbing Arrangement

The flexibility and durability of tubing built of high density polyethylene material and connected by PEX fittings offers many advantages over plumbing systems employing metal or rigid plastic pipes. PEX pipes do not corrode and withstand cold temperatures without becoming brittle. They cost less than copper or pvc piping. They are much easier to install because they are stored in spools and need fewer fittings.

The supple pipes are not made brittle by low temperatures. Polyethylene tubes are less costly than metal pipes and are easier to put in because they do not use as many fittings as metal or rigid plastic schemes. Since soldering is not used with PEX schemes there are no nasty fumes or the risks associated with using a torch.

PEX tubing is stored on spools. Spools weigh less than copper or rigid plastic pipe making them less costly to ship and easier to store. When employed in an Installing, PEX tubing can be unrolled directly from the reel and does not require coupling fittings. This saves the time and cost of running pipe. PEX tubing can be flexed 90 degrees getting rid of the need for elbow fittings. PEX tube does not need to be soldered so there are no unhealthy fumes and dangers posed by using a torch.

There are a mixture of joining methods employed in installing PEX schemes. Some of these methods are proprietary and some require particular tools. Basically, the fitting is positioned over the tube or in the tube and then a ring is crimped around the tube or fitting making a tight fit. The rings can be made of various metals or plastic depending on he joining method.

The tools you will use when installing PEX are a PEX pipe cutter, a main crimping tool and a de-crimping tool. The PEX pipe cutter comes in different sizes for 1/2″ and 3/4″ size pipes. Rings are crimped utilising the crimping tool. The de-crimping tool is utilised for removing rings from tubes or fittings.

Fittings are normally made of brass, although there are some constructed of bronze, copper and engineered plastic fittings for PEX plumbing. There are distinctive ridges on the “insert” part of the fitting. The ridges, the PEX tube and the pinched metal ring all work together to form a high-pressure seal.

Water plumbing arrangements that take advantage of PEX tubing and PEX fittings have distinct benefits. The materials are less expensive than metal and plastic pipes. Less fittings are necessary. The Installation process is easier and shorter. Your system will never corrode or break so it will last longer with fewer potential problems.
